First edition of Kane & Abel by Jeffrey Archer.
Octavo, 540pp. Black cloth, yellow boards, title in gilt on spine. Full number line on copyright page. Light foxing on edges of text block, a touch of staining from previous mylar jacket tape on endpapers, appears unread, a near fine example. In publisher’s dust jacket, $13.95 retail price on front flap, hint of shelf wear, a near fine example.
Jeffrey Archer was a member of Parliament before becoming an author. He began writing to support his financial needs after being caught in an investment scheme leaving him half a million pounds in debt. Archer later returned to his career in politics in the 1980s before being sent to trial for lying under oath and serving time in prison in the early 2000s.
