The recipient of this book, Albert Mattei (1895-1969) was the president and CEO of Honolulu Oil Company and a close friend of President Hoover. They were both members of the exclusive Bohemian Club and were frequent fishing partners. Fishing for Fun was published shortly before Hoover’s death in 1964, being a collection of essays and speeches given by the former President about his favorite pastime.
