Top edge dyed green, both volumes. Light wear from handling, thumb marks to cover of Volume I. Volume II fine, appears unread, previous ownership notation on front free endpaper. Both volumes with illustrated front endpapers. In the publisher’s “Kansas City Edition” dust jackets, $5.00 retail price on front flaps, “Kansas City Edition” stated on spines, light shelf wear, near fine examples. Inscribed by President Truman in Volume I, Year of Decisions: “With kindest regard and best wishes to Rufus Burrus, my long time friend and comrade. Harry S. Truman. 12/19/55.”

This set is inscribed to Rufus B. Burrus (1900-1990), who was a lifelong friend, neighbor, family legal adviser, and board member of the Harry S. Truman Library Institute.
