Hayes.” Lucy Hayes, the former First Lady, died at the age of 57 at the Hayes’ home in Fremont, Ohio, called Spiegel Grove.
Maryette Andrews Smith Platt (1863-1929) was the wife of Rutherford Hayes Platt (1853-1928), the nephew of President Hayes. Mr. Platt was an attorney and civic leader in Columbus, Ohio. Their son, Rutherford Platt (1894-1975), was a respected nature writer, photographer and advertising executive.
