Thick octavo, xxiv, [1]-732pp, [4pp ads]. Full brown morocco, double gilt-ruled border. Title in gilt on red morocco label affixed to spine, five raised bands with gilt ruling. Handmade endpapers. Solid text block, small bump to bottom of spine. Faint damp stain to frontispiece, usual toning to leaves. A near fine example in a fine binding. Complete with 48 illustrations, including a frontispiece with tissue guard and three fold-out maps. Map of South Africa with archival repairs to center fold, others near fine.
