Light wear at edges, intermittent toning to images. Frontispiece portrait of John Nance Garner opposite title page. Bookplate affixed to front endpaper. In scarce publishers first edition dust jacket, $1.50 retail price on front flap, toning to spine and some chipping at edges, bright cover illustrations. Inscribed by Vice President John Nance Garner on the front free end paper: “To Colonel Edward C. Johnson, A fine gentleman, a good American + my friend. With warm regards of his friend. January 18, 40. John Nance Garner.” A scarce signed book by the former speaker of the House of Representatives, 32nd vice president of the United States and democratic presidential candidate, John Nance Garner.

Comments: The recipient of this book, Colonel Edward C. Johnson, wrote the history of Marine Corps Aviation, titled “The Early Years: 1912-1940.”
