Comments: Naked Came the Stranger was a novel written as a literary hoax under the pseudonym of Penelope Ashe. It was actually written by 24 journalists, to prove that “mindlessly vulgar” content sells no matter the quality. When the hoax was revealed by Newsday columnist Mike McGrady, the book gained in popularity.
