Octavo, 312pp. Full green cloth, title in red on spine. Red topstain. Stated “First published 1949” on copyright page. Previous bookseller’s label affixed to front free endpaper. Solid text block, sunning and spotting along edges and spine. A few bumps to covers. Foxing to endpapers, otherwise clean interior. Very good condition. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, “10s.” retail price on front flap, the more desirable red variant. Sunning to spine, soiling to verso at the spine, possible dampstain. Shelf worn, with general toning across the jacket. Small loss to front panel of jacket through to green cloth boards. (Fenwick A12a)
