Outdoor Pastimes of An American Hunter is a collection of short stories that recount Roosevelt’s hunting trips in Yellowstone Park and other destinations in the western United States. It is the only book published during his presidency, and the material written solely by Roosevelt. This first edition of Outdoor Pastimes follows the large paper signed limited edition, published the same month as this edition. The signed limited edition was kept to 260 copies, the smallest limitation of the works from Theodore Roosevelt. Copies 6, 7, and 9 were held for the personal use of President Roosevelt. (Cole & Vail, A24a). This trade edition was priced at $3.00 at publication, and 6000 copies were issued during the first run.
