The limited edition of Pictures By Maurice Sendak, complete with 20 plates, one signed by Sendak.
Folio, [20 plates]. Floral cloth boards, blue cloth backstrap, title on label affixed to front cover. Light rubbing to cloth, some wear at hinges. Includes the publisher’s original cardboard shipping box, book title on side panel, original mailing label and postage still present. This work includes 19 reproductions of artwork from the works of Sendak (15 in color), and an unpublished drawing of “Jennie,” which is signed by Sendak. All loose in the display box, with paper folder divides.
Limitation is affixed to the front pastedown of the display box, noting: “This special edition is limited to five hundred copies. Each copy includes a signed reproduction of a previously unpublished pencil drawing of Jennie, the Sealyham terrier who posed for the heroine of Higglety Pigglety Pop! All the pictures are printed on various fine papers. This is copy no. 443.” (Hanrahan A78)
