The featured character, Lil Mose – the prankster, is the first cartoon strip in the United States to feature an African American leading character.
Comments: The illustrator of this book, Richard F. Outcault, is considered the pioneer of the modern comic strip. He created The Yellow Kid and the Buster Brown series.
