Edward Dean Adams (1846-1931) was an American banker and the president of the Niagara Falls Hydraulic Power Company, who built the first hydroelectric power plant in Niagara Falls, NY. He authored Niagara Power: History of the Niagara Falls Power Company, 1886-1918, which was published in 1927. He also appeared on the cover of Time Magazine in 1929. The John Fritz Medal has been awarded since 1903. Notable recipients include President Herbert Hoover, Elon Musk, Alexander Graham Bell, Alfred Noble, Orville Wright, and Igor Sikorsky.
