Signed on front free endpaper by President Harry Truman to WWII Air Force veteran, Edward C. Swan. Inscription reads: “Best wishes to Edward C. Swan, 5/7/55. Harry Truman.”
Comments: George E. Allen (1896-1973), served as a political operative during the Roosevelt and Truman administrations. He befriended President Eisenhower during the 1940s, while making trips to Europe on behalf of the Red Cross. After leaving politics, he remained close to President Eisenhower, becoming known as one of “Ike’s Millionaires.”
