Octavo, 164pp. Blue cloth back boards, title printed in black on spine and cover. Stated “first edition” on copyright page. Frontispiece portrait of Roosevelt. Light toning at edges, but otherwise fine. A scarce copy, with Roosevelt Biographer Ernest Halter asking for subscribers to please add descriptions of the contents of the book. Only one copy appears in auction records since 1945. (Halter T-596)
Comments: Laid-in note from Rare Book dealer Arthur Gofen to Frederick Adams accompanies the book. The note outlines the differences between the the cloth edition and this edition, which is considered to be the “True First Edition.” Provenance: Sotheby’s The Library of Frederick B. Adams Jr., sold in 2001.
