Signed on the title page by Rep. James Buchanan of Pennsylvania, dated “7 June 1828.” Additional signature of Buchanan’s longtime friend and fellow attorney, Jasper Yeates Slaymaker.

Provenance: This work was issued in four volumes and all were received by James Buchanan upon the death of his friend, Jasper Slaymaker in 1827. All four volumes were dated 7 June 1828 by Rep. James Buchanan and have been sold individually at auction since 1990. The author of this set was the future United States Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander James Dallas (1759-1817) and this set serves as “an important legal milestone in American legal publishing.”
