Large octavo, [two volumes], 648pp; 782pp. Modern leather binding with brown cloth boards. Title in gilt on spines, gilt-ruled bands. New marbled endpapers and flyleaves. No additional printings listed in either volume. Solid text blocks, occasional foxing and toning to plates in each volume. Both with frontispiece portraits, protected with tissue. Previous ownership inscription on front flyleaf of Volume I. (Nevins II: 15) A handsome set.
