A thorough account of the fall of Fort Sumter by Union General Samuel Wylie Crawford, a United States Army surgeon on the staff of Robert Anderson during the Confederate bombardment. He was one of the few soldiers who were present for the beginning of the war at Fort Sumter and the surrender at Appomattox Court House. This work was reprinted in 1896 with the revised title of: “The History of the Fall of Fort Sumter.” (Eicher 31)
