Comments: This association copy is inscribed by President Richard Nixon to chief White House Usher Rex Scouten. Rex Scouten was the Chief Usher under four US Presidents (Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan), then White House curator from 1986 until 1997. Scouten was known to be professional and discrete in his relationships with the nation’s top leaders. He developed a true friendship with the Nixon family, with the Nixon children continuing to write to him even after their father left office.
