Sixteenmo, 12pp. Blue printed boards, title on label affixed to front panel. Printed by McGrath-Sherrill Press of Boston and bound by Boston Bookbinding Company. Lacking the limitation paste down on front end paper, as is typical with this copy. Signed by first lady and “co-author” Edith Bolling Wilson on the front end paper. Inscription reads: “Edith Bolling Wilson to Mrs. Day Way.”
This final essay of President Woodrow Wilson was dictated to his wife in 1923, shortly before his death. Some argue that Edith Bolling Wilson was our first female president. While her husband was recovering from a stroke, she controlled the paper flow within the executive branch, effectively running the government.
