This work covers the military history of the Sixth-Fourth Regiment, the Sixty-Fifth Regiment, the Sixth Ohio Battery, McLaughlins’ Cavalry and the leading Generals in Sherman’s Army. The author of this work, Wilbur F. Hinman (1841-1905) served in the 65th Ohio Volunteer Infantry for 3 years, before being wounded at the Battle Chickamauga in September of 1863. He returned to active service in 1864 and was promoted to the rank of Captain.
