Octavo, [325pp], [3]. Purple cloth, title stamped in gilt on spine. The first issue, with “First Published in 1931” statement on the copyright page. Glue remnant on both endpapers where dust jacket protector was previously attached. Solid text block, laid paper, internally clean. In the publisher’s first issue dust jacket, “7s. 6d.” retail price on front flap, light toning to spine, a bright, near fine example. Jacket designed by her sister, Vanessa Bell. (Kirkpatrick A16a)
