A Whig politician, Edmund Burke (1729-1797) served as a Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons from 1766 to 1794. His Reflections on the Revolution in France, published in 1790, became one of his best-known works. Today, Edmund Burke is remembered as the philosophical founder of conservatism.
