While positively reviewed by The New York Times, it was considered uneven by some critics. This work includes a total of 13 short stories. Part I: Victory, Ad Astra, All the Dead Pilots, Crevasse. Part II: Red Leaves, A Rose for Emily, A Justice, Hair, That Evening Sun, Dry September. Part III: Mistral, Divorce in Naples, Carcassonne.
