Octavo, x, 303pp. Original decorative red cloth-covered boards. Original red cloth spine laid over contemporary spine, reinforcing text block. Stated “Author’s Edition” on copyright page. Solid text block, original cloth heavily rubbed, faint foxing throughout text, a very good example. Contains twenty-six full-page black and white plates, including a frontispiece.
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea was originally published in French, serialized in the Pierre-Jules Hetzel magazine from March 1869 through June 1870. It was translated to English and published in the United States in 1873.
