We Hold These Truths was an hour-long American radio program broadcast live on December 15, 1941, to mark the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights; it was written and produced by Norman Corwin and was the first radio program carried simultaneously on all four major U.S. networks (CBS, NBC Red, NBC Blue, and Mutual), attracting an estimated audience of around 60-plus million listeners, nearly half the nation.

Originally commissioned by the U.S. government’s Office of Facts and Figures before the attack on Pearl Harbor, its broadcast was reaffirmed after that event when officials wired Corwin that “The President thinks it’s more important now than ever to proceed with the program.”
