The recipient of this copy, Lieutenant General Martin Brandtner (1938-2017), was one of two Marines to be awarded two Navy Crosses during the Vietnam War. He served in the United States armed forces for 33 years, his last post being the Director of Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1991-1993.
