White House Etching by Joseph Conover Claghorn, signed by President Herbert Hoover and First Lady Lou Henry Hoover, dated 12-25-31.

Signed in pencil by the artist and titled “From the South Portico of the White House.” This work shows the “The Washington Monument” in Washington, D.C. Cream white matte, museum glass, frame measures 9.5″ x 13″.

Signed and dated along the lower corner by President Herbert Hoover and First Lady Lou Hoover.

The 1931 holiday gift from President and Mrs. Herbert Hoover to members of the White House staff were etchings by Joseph C. Claghorn. The three variants of etchings include: The Washington Monument, the Arlington Memorial Amphitheater, and Mount Vernon. All were framed and matted before distribution to the staff. All were signed by the artist, President Hoover, and Mrs. Hoover.
