Letter from President Gerald R. Ford to a Texas business executive R. Miller Hicks, with a handwritten note from Ford inviting him to the Oval Office.
The letter is dated September 3, 1976, typed on White House stationery, stamped “Sep 8, 1976” along top edge. Previously framed, even toning across the letter. Facsimile copy of the letter is housed at the Ford Library. Includes the personal signature “Jerry Ford,” with the following handwritten postscript: “P.S. When you come to Washington, and I hope it is soon, let me know so you can stop by the Oval Office. J.”
R. Miller Hicks (1925-2020) was the president of R. Miller Hicks & Company in Austin, Texas, and Chairman of Ronald Reagan’s Small and Minority Business advisory panel. Hicks was a Republican donor in Texas with close ties to President Ford and President Reagan.
