Thick octavo, [three volumes], [6], 840pp, [1]; [6], 988pp, [1]; [6], 1106pp, [1]. Gray cloth, title stamped in gilt over blue on spines. Stated “First Printing” or “First Edition” on copyright page of each volume. Top edge dyed blue. Illustrated endpapers. Previous owners bookplate in front of Volumes I and II. Solid text blocks, all near fine examples. In the publisher’s first state dust jackets, $10.00 with “11/58” in Volume I, $12.50 with “11/63” in Volume II and $20.00 with “11/74” in Volume III. All three dust jackets with light sunning to the spines, a few closed tears, primarily to Volumes I and II, tape remnant to verso of Volume II, a very good set.
