All illustrations with tissue covers, frontispiece tissue with closed tear. Previous ownership inscription on the verso of the frontispiece portrait, dated 1890. Sturdy text block.

My Story Of The War details the wartime activities of a journalist and social worker during the Civil War. It describes military hospitals in St. Louis, with descriptions of the sanitary conditions and her efforts to improve hygiene. Livermore also describes her meeting with Ulysses S. Grant before the battle of Vicksburg.
