Comments: Sherman Adams served as the Chief of Staff for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. His long service as Chief of Staff ended in 1958 with it was discovered that Adams had accepted gifts from a textile manufacturer under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission. This was the only substantial scandal to hit the White House during the Eisenhower Administration.
