Comments: John R. Mott was one of the most influential Protestant figures of the 19th and 20th century, being the long-serving leader of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). He was a pioneer in the struggle against racial discrimination and worked for mutual respect between all religions. He was best known for his book called The Evangelization of the World in this Generation, published in 1900. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1946 for his work with Protestant Christian student organizations. He received the prize along with Emily Balch, the renowned economist and pacifist. Mott passed away in 1955.
