Comments: Colonel Hans Christian Heg was an officer from the 15th Wisconsin Infantry Division who fell at the battle of Chickamauga. From Eicher, this work presents a biographical account of the military career of Colonel Heg through 230 letters to his wife, daughter and others in Milwaukee. The letters span a period from 1862 – 1863. It highlights the contributions of Norwegian-American soldiers during the war, detailed accounts of battles and the incompetence of some volunteer officers.
