Octavo, vxii, 353pp. Green cloth, title stamped in gilt on spine. Light spotting to cloth spine, internally clean, remnant of dust jacket at lower edge of spine. Complete with frontispiece portrait, two color maps of Turkey and 33 illustrated plates. In the publisher’s illustrated dust jacket, $1.50 retail price on spine, chipping at spine, light soiling to covers, authors handwriting on front panel. The only known example of the publisher’s dust jacket on record.

This work by Rev. Joseph K. Greene (1834-1917), a missionary in Turkey, gives a broad survey of his missionary work and offers his informed perspective on the “Armenian question.” After Greene’s fifty-years of missionary work in Turkey and counseling the Turks, Greeks, Arabs and Armenians, he offers special insight into the beginnings of the Armenian genocide in this work.
