A Death In The Family by James Agee was published posthumously in 1957, two years after the author’s death. The novel was incomplete at the time of Agee’s passing, and editor David McDowell assembled and prepared the manuscript for publication using drafts and notes left behind. Despite its unfinished state, the book was met with critical acclaim and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1958.
