Book is inscribed by Charles Dawes to J.C. Shaeffer, a newspaper publisher, owner of the Chicago Evening Post, founding member of the Chicago Civic Opera and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Inscription reads: “For my friend John C. Shaeffer, from Charles G. Dawes. Dec 25th, 1933.”
Comments: Charles G. Dawes was the 30th Vice President of the United States under President Calvin Coolidge and Ambassador to Great Britain under President Herbert Hoover.
