Comments: John H. Ware III was a republican member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania, serving alongside Gerald Ford before he was nominated to be Vice President. Gerald R. Ford served as Vice President following the resignation of Spiro Agnew in 1973. In the wake of the Watergate Scandal and the resignation of President Richard Nixon, Gerald R. Ford assumed the Presidency in 1974. He served from 1974-1977, before being defeated by Jimmy Carter during the 1976 presidential election.
