Signed limited edition of A Writer’s Notebook by W. Somerset Maugham.

Octavo, xvi, 367pp, [1]. Full red cloth, title in gilt over black on spine. Top edge gilt. Stated “First Edition” on copyright page. Solid text block, sunned spine, dust remnants to top edge, a near fine example. In the publisher’s original acetate dust jacket, lightly sunned on spine, with small chips to corners. A near fine example. Housed in the publisher’s matching slipcase, title in black on a red and white label affixed to front panel.

A limited edition of 1,000 copies, this one numbered 203. Signed by the author, W. Somerset Maugham, on the limitation page.

William Somerset Maugham (1874-1965) was an English writer with a myriad of plays and novels published by the start of his popular success in 1914. He drove ambulances in World War I as a member of the British Red Cross, and in his spare time, he wrote his best-known piece, Of Human Bondage (1915).
