Lou Holtz met future president Bill Clinton during his time as head football coach at the University of Arkansas. Clinton was serving as the Arkansas Attorney General in 1977 and was asked to represent the University of Arkansas and Coach Holtz in a suit brought by three players who were dismissed from the team by Holtz. Clinton and Holtz remained friends as both of their careers progressed, despite political differences.
