Illustrated cover and spine remain bright; jacket design by John O’Hara Cosgrove II.

Paule Marshall (1929-2019) was a celebrated American author known for her insightful exploration of the African-American experience and Caribbean diaspora. Her literary works include Brown Girl, Brownstones, Praisesong for the Widow, and The Chosen Place, The Timeless People.
