Description
The D-Day Prayer lithographic broadside from President Franklin Roosevelt.
Lithographic broadside, 21 inches by 14 inches, printed on linen. Printed in two columns with gothic style type, gilt “A” backed by blue print. Framed and matted. One of 50 broadsides printed for members of the staff of President Roosevelt. It was said that President Roosevelt wrote the prayer while receiving reports of the allied landing on the Normandy beaches, then delivered it to the nation the evening of June 6th.
With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace – a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil. Thy will be done, Almighty God. Amen. An attractive and important piece of presidential history.
