    Captain Thomas J. Hudner Jr. (1924-2017) was the recipient of the Medal of Honor for his attempts to save his wingman, Ensign Jesse L. Brown, the first African American naval aviator. Ensign Brown crashed his combat plane during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. Lt. Hudner intentionally crashed his aircraft nearby in an attempt to save his wingman. The heroic exploits of both airmen were memorialized in the 2022 film Devotion.
