Rear cover states resolution by Harrison and Reform State Central Committee of Ohio from May 18, 1840 calling for translated publication to be produced for German citizens in local counties. A scarce example from Harrison’s second presidential campaign.
The publisher of this work, John S. Wiestling, was the publisher of a pro-Whig, German language newspaper in Columbus, Ohio, called the Ohio Staats-Zeitung und Volks-Advokat. He was requested to translate and publish “A Sketch of the Life and Public Services of William H. Harrison” for the large German working population in Ohio.
