First On The Moon

Book Club Edition

Signed by Neil Armstrong and the crew of the Apollo 11, First On The Moon, written by Gene Farmer and Dora Jane Hamblin.

Octavo, 511pp. Black cloth, title in gilt on spine and stamped in blind on front cover. Lacking “first edition” statement on copyright page. This copy appears unread. In the publisher’s dust jacket, “book club edition” note on front flap, light sunning to spine, a near fine example. Housed in custom black leather clamshell, title in gilt on spine, marbled interior.

This copy is signed by the Apollo 11 crew on the half-title: “With Very Best Wishes to Capt. Thomas Foxworth, Neil Armstrong / Apollo 11.”

Additional signatures by Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin.

A scarce inscribed copy by the Apollo 11 crew, notable for the “Apollo 11” inscription by Armstrong, who stopped signing for the public in the 1990s.

The recipient of this copy, Thomas G. Foxworth (1937-1994), was a Naval aviator until 1965, then a commercial airline pilot for the remainder of his career. A graduate of Princeton University, Foxworth was the author of two books and contributed 75 professional articles on airline safety to respected publications. Later in his career, he devoted his time to the Civil Aviation Organization of the United Nations, where he worked with NASA to improve cockpit displays. This copy of First Man on the Moon was gifted to Capt. Foxworth and passed down within his family following his passing in 1994.
