Octavo, [8], [9]-188pp, [2]. Illustrated purple and beige boards, over green cloth spine. Title on label affixed to spine. The first edition was limited to 2000 copies, this being number 88. Top edge dyed green, internally fine. Previous ownership bookplate on front endpaper. Housed in custom black cloth clamshell. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, $2.50 on front flap, restoration to spine and corners of front flap, bright illustrations and solid hinges.
Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: “This is inscribed for Scott Cunningham on Friday, May 10, 1929, Thursday, May 9th, Ascension Day, was Green Thursday, when the ground must not be stirred. Julia Peterkin.”
