Signed early printing of Guadalcanal Diary by Richard Tregaskis.

Octavo, [6], 263pp. Red cloth, title in gilt on spine, illustration blind stamped on front cover. No additional printings listed on copyright page. Solid text block, top edge dyed green, illustrated endpapers with maps of the Guadalcanal Islands, heavy wear at spine and tips, a very good example. In the publisher’s dust jacket, shelf wear, chipping to spine, bright illustrations. Inscription reads “For William Stanhope / Aloha – / Richard Tregaskis / Honolulu, Mar 23 / ’73.”

Richard Tregaskis (1916-1973) was a journalist and author, best known for this book about Guadalcanal. It would later be turned into a movie of the same name.
