A personal note from President William J. Clinton to Walter Kaye, a retired insurance executive and close friend of Hillary Clinton. Mr. Kaye advised the Clintons on their personal insurance liability as it related to the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit. At the same time, Mr. Kaye recommended Monica Lewinsky for a White House internship, through his relationship with her mother, Marcia Lewis. The document is framed. The note is written on White House stationary and dated June 12, 1995, one month before Monica Lewinsky began her White House internship. The signed letter offers birthday wishes to Walter Kaye, with a personalized note below, thanking him “for being such a good friend.”
Even through all the turmoil of the Monica Lewinsky affair and subsequent impeachment, President Clinton remained close with Mr. Kaye after his presidency.
