This publication marks Thomas Hardy’s second appearance in print.Chambers’s Journal of Popular Literature, Science, and Art, was originally known as the Chambers’s Edinburgh Journal. This weekly publication began on February 4, 1832, and ceased publication over 100 years later, in 1956.
