Comments: This work by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt details the life of her father, Elliott Bulloch Roosevelt, through his letters and correspondence. Elliott Roosevelt was the brother of President Theodore Roosevelt and often his academic superior early in life. As he grew older, he become an alcoholic and a burden for his politically ambitious older brother. He committed suicide in 1894, which had a dramatic impact on his daughter, Eleanor Roosevelt. The future First Lady spent much of her life trying to rehabilitate his image.
