Octavo, viii, 472pp. Blue cloth, title stamped in gilt on spine. Stated first edition, with full number line on copyright page. Book has been previously read, general wear to cloth and text block. Bookplate on front pastedown endpaper. In publisher’s dust jacket, retail price on front flap, general shelf wear, tape repair to top edge of spine over closed tear, bright colors, a good example. Inscription reads: “For Barbara & Pat Foley, Our good friends and Coronado neighbors, with great affection, Sybil Stockdale & Jim Stockdale. New Year’s Day, 1985.” Includes additional signed postcard from Jim Stockdale to Rear Admiral Foley.
An exceptional association copy from Vice Admiral and Medal of Honor recipient, Jim Stockdale to Rear Admiral Foley. Admiral Stockdale was a prisoner of war in Vietnam for seven years. In 1992, he was asked to serve as Ross Perot’s vice-presidential nominee on the independent ticket.
